Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom had her final gallop on Tuesday morning (video above) before she heads to Kembla Grange for the Highway Handicap this Saturday. Maddison, her rider, was very pleased with her gallop and we think she will go well on the weekend.

There is not much speed in the race and from our good barrier (finally), we are hoping to be sitting in the first four from the jump. A lot of the favoured horses in the field are back markers and with our low weight, good barrier and Shaun Guymer on board, we think she is a good each way chance.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom is racing at Nowra on Sunday in the BM58 over 1600m (race 7 at 5:35pm). She has barrier 6 and Shaun Guymer is riding her.

She had her final gallop on Wednesday morning (video above). This will be her first race over 1600m which we think is going to suit her. She should be able to sit closer over the further distance and not have to make up so much ground. She has a good barrier and is ultra consistent so we expect her to be a good top three chance in this field.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom has pulled up great from her race at Nowra. She had her first trip to the river on Saturday morning (she is furthest from the camera in the video above). She was a bit nervous but she will get better each time she goes to the river.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom is fully recovered from her trip to Forbes and we are aiming to race her again at Nowra next weekend. Nowra had a lot of rain and the track is very wet so we will have to see how it is as we get closer. She can go to the following Moruya meeting if the surface at Nowra is unusable.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom is racing at Sapphire Coast on Sunday (race 5 at 3:35pm) in the Class 2 over 1008m. She resumes this prep with two jumpouts under her belt and Shaun Guymer is booked to ride. She has drawn a wide barrier but is likely to come in a few with scratchings.

The main danger in the field is Shenandoah and Boom and Zoom meets him a kilo better than last time they raced at Canberra. We think Boom and Zoom is a good each way chance. The video above is her gallop on Tuesday (she is on the outside).

Boom and Zoom

Disappointing not to race Boom and Zoom this week when Moruya races were called off. We are now planning to race her at Sapphire Coast on the 26th of July. The video below is her in the round yard this morning after her canter.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom had a couple of days rest after her jumpout last week because she bruised her heel while carrying on in her yard after the jumpout. She is fine again now and is nominated to race in the BM58 1010m at Moruya on Monday 13th July. The video above is her walking this afternoon.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom had another good jumpout today. She went around without her blinkers (we are saving them for raceday) so she settled at the rear of the field and worked through the middle of the other horses around the turn to run 2nd. She pulled up good and is on track to race on the 13th of July at Moruya.

800m – 47.14, last 600m – 34.49.

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom has come through her jumpout great. She is eating and working well and she looks so much physically stronger than last prep. She will have a second jumpout on the 1st of July.

The video below is her gallop this morning:

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom performed well in her jumpout this week. She was not asked to do much and was strong to the line under a hold. It was a much better performance than her first jumpout last preparation.

800m – 47.35, last 600m -34.30

She will have another jumpout on 1st of July

Boom and Zoom

Boom and Zoom started 3/4 pace last week and she is building her fitness quickly. We are aiming to have her ready for a jumpout on the 17th of June.

Boom and Zoom put in a tremendous effort at Canberra over the weekend so she went to the paddock this week for a freshen up. She will start trackwork again on Monday.

We are planning on stepping her up to 1400m next start. If she is ready to step up in time for Nowra on the 29th of March she will race then but if she needs some extra time, she will go straight to Moruya on Cup day 12th of April.
