Fantini had a relaxed gallop this morning as her final fast work before she races at Moruya on Friday (video above). She will wear the blinkers in her race as we find it keeps her more focused and better behaved in the barriers. The fields for Friday will be published tomorrow.
Fantini had her second jumpout for the prep this morning at Moruya. The video is below, she sits third and works home to win her heat. She hung in a bit up the straight but balanced up when she switched to her correct lead.
Depending on how she recovers over the next few days there are a couple of options for her first race, the earliest being Goulburn on the 12th in the Class 2 1000m.
Fantini has been galloping great heading towards her second jumpout this week. She is back on her food and is moving good. We expect her barrier manners to improve this jumpout as she got better each time during last prep. Aaron Sweeney, who rode her to win last prep, is coming down to Moruya to do the jumpout.
She galloped with Kattegat on Friday last week. She is on the inside in the video below.

Fantini is ready to make her racing debut this weekend at Sapphire Coast. She is entered both days, in the 900m Maiden on Saturday (Race 1 at 1:41pm) and the 1000m Maiden on Sunday (Race 2 at 2:00pm). The race and the barrier on Saturday look to be the better option but the weather conditions forecast for Sunday are much cooler. We will wait until Saturday morning to make the final decision.
We have been really pleased with Fantini since she had a short, two week break in the paddock in early January. She has returned much stronger in her mind and better able to cope with the challenges of training. We think on her ability, she should perform very well but it is hard to know how horses, especially fillies, will cope with their first day at the races.
Fantini and Gossip had their first gallop since their short break in the paddock this morning (video above – Gossip on the outside). Fantini worked strong to the line and will aim to race at Sapphire Coast on either the 1st or 2nd of February.
Gossip worked good but she is heavily in season this week and is having trouble focusing. We will gallop her a couple more times before she goes racing.
Fantini had her second jumpout at Moruya this morning (video above). Her barrier manners were not great and it caused her to miss the start. She was left chasing the whole time but she still finished off okay. She will still aim to race in the 1000m Maiden at Moruya on the 6th of January.
Fantini has stepped up to a new level after her jumpout and showed real improvement in her gallop this morning. She is coming along great and will have a second jumpout on Christmas Eve at Moruya. She is holding her condition really well and is developing her strength and muscle tone as she continues her training.
Fantini had her first jumpout for the prep at Moruya this morning. She is at the rear of the field in the video above and works home to finish 2nd. She hung in a little up the straight but otherwise, it was a good hit out.
The other horses in the heat have both raced before and the winner has already won a race in her career. They ran the 800m heat in 47.41 seconds, with the last 600m in 33.50 seconds.
We plan to give Fantini a second jumpout on the 24th of December, before sending her for her first race at Moruya on the 6th of January.
Fantini has been galloping well over the past two weeks and she is ready for a jumpout on Tuesday 10th of December. She is on the outside in the gallop video above.

Fantini stepped up to 3/4 pace work this week (she is closest to the camera in the video above). She will be ready for a jumpout in earlier December.
Fantini started 1/2 pace this week and she is working well. She also had her first ride on the bush track which is going to be a great help in keeping her relaxed and interested in training by giving her a break from trackwork each week. She is on the outside in the video above from Tuesday morning.
Fantini continues to work well as she builds up her fitness by cantering each morning. She is eating great and should be ready to start some 1/2 pace next week.
Fantini joined our stables last week and has settled in very well. She is eating great and she and her neighbour Resort have become best mates. She has started cantering on the track and the video above is from this morning (she is on the outside).
