Merdeka arrived at the stables last week and she has settled in great. She is a relaxed mare with a lovely forward going action. She has been eating brilliantly and cantering nicely around the track. She will start pace work next week. Click below for her video update:

Tornac is ready to start his campaign at Moruya on Monday in the Maiden over 1200m (Race 2 at 1:35pm). He will be ridden by Shaun Guymer from barrier 7 and he will be wearing the blinkers, like he did in his second jumpout.
He had his final gallop on Tuesday morning with Pahang (he is on the inside in the video above). The blinkers really make a difference to this horse by switching him on to his job. He should be able to take up a mid field position and make a good finishing burst. We think he is a good each way chance.
Resort has pulled up very well from his first up run at Canberra on Tuesday. We were happy with his performance over such a short distance and it was good to see him steaming through the line. He had a relaxing river day on Thursday as part of his recovery (he is closest to the camera in the video above).
Pahang returns to the races in the Class 1 over 1425m at Moruya on Monday (Race 4 at 2:45pm). He will be ridden by Ellen Hennessy again from barrier 10.
He had his final gallop on Tuesday morning with Tornac (he is on the outside in the video above). He has recovered well since his last race at Moruya and will be stepping up 400m this start. He settled very well and showed a good turn of foot in his first run this prep over 1010m so we think the distance should suit him. We have been very happy with his work at home and his physical condition is the best it has been since he arrived at our stables. He is looking stronger and his confidence and attitude around the stables have been great.
Kattegat is racing in the Country Magic Class 3 over 1200m at Moruya on Monday (Race 3 at 2:10pm). He will be ridden by Shaun Guymer from barrier 8.
He had his final gallop on Wednesday morning (video above). He has been racing very well this prep and we think he is a great chance on Monday. He continues to recover quickly after his trips to Sydney and gallop well at home. He is always full of energy and loves his racing.
Icksta is coming along very well. He is doing 3/4 pace on fast work mornings and is quickly building up his fitness. He is the second horse in the video above doing 3/4 pace on the B grass. We anticipate he will be ready for a jumpout at the end of the month.
I Am Bolt returns to the races to start this prep in the BM58 over 1010m at Moruya on Monday (Race 5 at 3:20pm). He will be ridden by Shaun Guymer from barrier 3.
He did his final sprint up on Wednesday morning (video above). We have been very happy with his jumpouts and his trackwork gallops going into this race. He has a good barrier but we don’t anticipate him being able to lead this field as there is a lot of early speed. We plan to be positive from the gate and take up a position in the first four from the start. We think he is a good each way chance on Monday.
Hoystryke kicks off her prep in the 1200m Maiden at the Moruya Showcase meeting on Monday (Race 2 at 1:35pm). She will be ridden by Aaron Sweeney from barrier 8.
Her final gallop was on Tuesday (on the inside in the video above). We have been very pleased with Hoystryke’s trackwork and her two jumpouts this prep. We plan to settle her at the rear of the field, where she is comfortable, and have her use her good turn of foot to finish off in the straight.
The video below is her relaxing at the river on Wednesday (she is closest to the camera).
Hay Bale is all ready to challenge for the Moruya Cup on Monday (Race 7 at 4:40pm). He had his final gallop on Tuesday (video above). Shaun Guymer will be riding him from barrier 11, carrying 57kg. The barrier is not ideal as he likes to go forward, but he has been jumping well and should still be able to take up a forward position.
His racing and work in the recent months has been the best he has done since joining our stables and we think he has a great chance on Monday.
Our three young fillies are all back in work and started half pace this week. In the video above Times Change has the rider with the blue cap with white pom pom, Cosmic Barb has the black striped cap and Real Salty has the blue and white cap.
Cosmic Barb missed a couple of days early in the week with a foot abscess (following all the rain we have had) but she caught up no problem and is progressing great.
All three girls have returned this prep much more focused and mature. They are building up their pace work and will be on the grass track next week.
Dragons Breath and Boomahnoomoonah have both had an easy week following their races on Sunday at Sapphire Coast. The video above is their trail ride this morning.
