Pauper is doing very well at the stables following his bleeding attack at Kembla races on Tuesday. He recovered very quickly and is just having a few easy days resting at the stables before he goes to the paddock on the weekend for his two month spell.
Pauper has come through his race at Wagga last week very well. He did some 3/4 pace this morning (video above).
We have nominated him for the 1200m Maiden at Kembla Grange on Tuesday 14th May.
Pauper has been working well in the lead up to the $40K Country Maiden at Wagga on Friday. There are 26 horses nominated but we believe he should have no trouble making the field. The field will be published on Tuesday morning.
Resort and Pauper galloped together on Tuesday morning (click above for video).
They worked from the 1000m mark in the following sectionals:
15.15, 14.53, 14.16, 11.37, 11.54
Pauper has come through his second jumpout very well. He was a bit flat after the first jumpout but this time he is fresh and ready to go racing.
He will be nominated for the 1010m Maiden at Moruya on the 9th of April. Brock Ryan has been booked to ride which is good since he has a feel for him now after riding him in the jumpout.
Pauper had his second jumpout at Moruya this morning (video above – turn on sound for jockey, Brock Ryan’s, comments).
He wore the blinkers and a tongue tie and his focus was noticeably improved from last fortnight.
He is ready to go racing and will be nominated for Moruya on the 9th of April.

Pauper had his first jumpout for the prep at Moruya today (click above for video). He was good to load and jumped with the other runners. We asked his rider to give him an easy jumpout so she didn’t hunt him up too hard and he just worked to the line steady. He will improve with the blinkers and a tongue tie when he has a second jumpout in a fortnight.
We are then planning on starting him at the races at Moruya on the 9th of April.
Pauper had his first gallop for the prep on Tuesday morning and he went great. He was much more focused travelling at speed than he is when he is going slow. He ran very good times without much exertion and was hardly blowing when he pulled up. He will have a jumpout on Tuesday morning next week.
Pauper has started pacework on the grass track (video above). He feels like he is just cantering when he is going 3/4 pace and does the work easily. He is a bit goofy and needs to improve his concentration but he is coming along well. We are aiming to have him ready for a jumpout in two weeks.

Pauper continues to build his fitness by cantering on the track each morning. He went on his first trail ride on the bush track on Thursday morning (video above). He was a bit nervous and kept looking behind him to check he wasn’t being followed but he was well behaved and will be much more relaxed next time.
He has been enjoying a sun bake during the day (horse on the right in the photo below) and is always hungry.
Our new boy, Pauper, has settled in great and is loving his new life in Moruya. He is an excellent eater and is beautifully quiet to handle and ride.
He has been cantering this week and will continue doing slow work for another couple of weeks to build up his fitness before commencing fast work.
