Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo will have his first race start on Sunday at Nowra in the 1200m Maiden (race 4 at 3:40pm). He has barrier 5 and Shaun Guymer is riding.

He had his final gallop on Wednesday (video above). We expect this horse to improve as he steps up in distance so we will be happy if he is finishing off strong on Sunday over 1200m.

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo had his first trip to the river last week (he is furthest from the camera in the video above). The river is a great tool we have for the horses’ recovery. The area we use is right at the river mouth and wading in the salt water is great for the horses’ legs. It is also something the horses really look forward to as a break from trackwork. He was a bit hesitant to step into the water at first but once he was in, he was happy.

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo had a good first jumpout at Moruya this morning (video below). He was quite nervous in the gates and reared once but he jumped with the other horses. He travelled well throughout the jumpout and just got a bit tired at the end. This is to be expected given the amount of galloping he has done so far. He has nearly three weeks before we plan to trial him and there is the option to give him a second jumpout in between as well.  His fitness will be a lot stronger before it is time for him to race.

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo is stepping up his 3/4 pace and is coping very well. He has a really long stride and the 3/4 pace is effortless for him. He will aim to jumpout on the 26th.

Mikkeyday, Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo and Mikkeyday have both begun pace work. The video above is their 3/4 pace on the course proper on Thursday.

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo is coming along well and he is starting to get keen in his cantering like he is ready to step up to some pace work at the end of the week. The video below is his canter this morning.

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo is building his fitness by cantering each morning. He will do one more week of cantering before he starts pacework.

Spring Creek Halo

Spring Creek Halo arrived at our stables last week. He is a 3 year old Dubleo gelding who has done two barrier trials with another trainer. He is a lovely big horse with a nice action and he is good to ride and handle. He will be cantering for a few weeks before starting any pace work. The video above is him cantering this morning.
