It was a mixed bag of racing for Thorotek at the final Moruya meeting of the season with a winner, a scratching at the barriers and a horse falling after the post but by the end of the day we had achieved one of our major goals for the season, winning the Moruya Jockey Club Trainer Premiership.
It went right down to the wire with the Trainer Premiership and Horse of the Year being decided in the final race. Our boy, Malachi Crunch, ran a gallant third and tied on 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings throughout the season with another local horse, Sonnets. Following a count back of prize money won, Sonnets will be awarded the title but we couldn’t be prouder of Malachi Crunch and his efforts throughout the season. Three wins, a second and two thirds at a single track in a season is an incredible achievement.
Our new girl, Gossip, won impressively in the 1200m Maiden and looks to be an exciting horse for the future and our other new arrival, No Emotion, also ran an excellent race to place 3rd, beaten only 0.4 lengths.
A big thank you to our dedicated team and our supportive owners who made winning the premiership possible. Congratulations also go to Jess Taylor who won the Jockey Premiership and has ridden many winners for our stable this season.
