Pauper travelled to Randwick to contest the Highway Handicap on May 9th but unfortunately suffered a bleeding attack. This was his second bleed so he has been forced into retirement.
He recovered quickly after the race and will start his new career after a spell. He will be sent to the Racing NSW rehoming program next month to find a new home in an equestrian sport stable. He retires with no soundness issues so he will have no trouble moving on to his new life quickly. He is a big, confident horse who is great to ride so he will probably find himself in an eventing or showjumping stable.
Pauper came to Thorotek as a Maiden purchased from Godolphin. In his 9 starts for our stable he won twice and ran another 4 placings, winning just under $50,000. We wish “Herb” all the best in his new life.
