Our wonderfully consistent mare, Boom and Zoom, stepped up to 1600m for the first time at Nowra and nearly grabbed the victory. She was given a brilliant ride by Shaun Guymer and was only beaten 0.1 lengths on the line. It was difficult to make up ground at Nowra this day and she showed a good finishing sprint in the closing stages. As she has matured, her racing style has become more relaxed and has allowed her to get up over more ground.
