Life after racing

When Depreciation “Shamus”, retired at the start of the year he started his new job as our stable pony. He accompanies the young or nervous horses to the track and is a useful mate for slow and fast work. His absolute specialty is the barriers. When he was racing he frequently jumped a length in front of the other runners. He is super calm and confident in the gates and he has taught all our young horses this year excellent barrier manners. His handiwork was on display throughout November as we had Cosmic Barb, Times Change and our Real Impact filly jumpout successfully following his tutelage. Shamus even had a jumpout himself, guiding three young horses through the process calmly.

Shamus has always been a favourite but now he is a great asset to our stable as the young horses come through each year.
