California August (Gus) overcame unbelievable conditions to pick up his second consecutive victory and take out the Batemans Bay Cup. On a Heavy 10 track in pouring rain he took the lead at the 600m mark and never looked back, winning by over 3 lengths on the line.
Shaun Guymer gave him a positive ride and kept him balanced on the wet track. A huge congratulations has to go to the jockeys for pressing on through the difficult conditions and the Moruya track staff for preparing a track that was able to hold a race meeting with so much rain.
