Airfree 3

Airfree will make her long awaited comeback to racing on Sunday 2nd of February at Sapphire Coast. She hasn’t raced since August when she bled at Randwick. She will contest the $50,000 Bega Sprint (Race 6 at 4:25pm). Jess Taylor is riding her and she will jump from barrier 8 carrying 54kg.

We are really pleased with how Airfree has been working and although it is a strong race, we think she will run well. She has good first up form and she has done plenty of work in the lead up to this race with the required barrier trial and the hold up due to the recent bush fires. The photo above is at the river on Wednesday morning.

Airfree, Resort

This morning a number of horses had their first gallop since returning to work after the bushfire evacuation. Airfree led the way and Resort followed close behind in the video above. Airfree sprinted great out of the turn and Resort wound up in the straight, chasing her down.

Resort will aim to race at Sapphire Coast on the 2nd of February in either the Sapphire Coast Cup over 2200m or the Bega Cup over 1600m.

Airfree will have another gallop before we decide to race her either in the Town Plate at Bega on the 2nd of February or the Highway Handicap at Warwick Farm on the 8th of February.

Airfree

Airfree has come through her jumpout very well and her trackwork gallops continue to impress (video above). She is trialling at Moruya on Sunday and we can’t wait to get her back to the races.

Airfree, Icksta

Airfree and Icksta jumped out together at Moruya this morning. Airfree is in the lead on the rail and Icksta is sitting at the rear and works home into 2nd in the video above.

Airfree had a good hit out and is ready to trial at Moruya on the 22nd to be reinstated to race on Moruya Cup Day in January. She has been working very well at home and we are really looking forward to her returning to the races.

Icksta was thrown in the deep end today, racing Airfree who has won three races, and the other horse has won four races in its career. Icksta’s jockey did have to give him a hustle up coming out of the turn but he worked home well and he punched through the middle of the field, which is great practice. This heat was the fastest of the morning with the 800m ran in 46.84 seconds and the last 600m in 33.27 seconds.

Icksta definitely showed improvement from his first jumpout and he will now aim to race at Moruya in the 1300m Maiden on the 22nd of December.

Airfree

Airfree has started galloping and she is ready for a jumpout on Tuesday next week. She is coming along very well and we will aim to trial her at Moruya on the 22nd of December.

Airfree

Airfree is doing 3/4 pace on her fast mornings now and will be ready to jumpout on the 10th of December. She will do one more week of 3/4 pace before she starts galloping. The video above is her marching off the track after cantering.

Airfree

Airfree started 1/2 pace this week and will be ready to step up to 3/4 pace next week. She is a trackwork machine and her fitness is building quickly.

Airfree

Airfree is churning out the laps each morning building up her fitness after her two month spell. She has slotted straight back into the stables and is coming along great.

Airfree

Airfree is back! Her new shoes were fitted this morning and she is ready to return to trackwork tomorrow morning. From theses photos, she looks pretty pleased about it…

Airfree

Airfree has three weeks to go of her spell before she is allowed to return to the stables. She is very well in the paddock and is really enjoying her break. We are looking forward to having her back in work.

Airfree

Airfree had a sprint up on Wednesday morning (video above) in preparation for her Highway Handicap race on Saturday. She worked the final two furlongs in:

11.20, 11.25

She has barrier 3 in the Class 3 1300m at Kensington. We also have her nominated for Kembla Grange on Saturday but the race in Sydney looks very suitable.

Airfree

Airfree has been working towards her next race start well this week. We are going to nominate her for the Highway Handicap at Randwick on Saturday and also for a BM64 1300m at Kembla Grange on the same day. We have her nominated for Warwick Farm on Wednesday but the field is too strong so we won’t accept there.

The nominations for the weekend will be released on Monday morning.

Airfree

Airfree has recovered from her race at Canberra very quickly, which probably suggests she was unable to gallop to her full potential on the Synthetic Acton track. She will gallop tomorrow morning and we are still planning on working towards the Highway Handicap at Randwick on the 17th of August for her next start.

Airfree

Airfree is back to herself after her tough first up win at Nowra. She had a very easy week to recover from the bottomless track conditions but she is back to normal now and has resumed pace work. The video above is her 3/4 pace this morning (Thursday).

We will nominate for Canberra on the 26th but at this stage we are leaning towards taking her to the Highway Handicap at Randwick on the 3rd of August.

Airfree

Airfree is working well as she heads towards her first start for the prep at Nowra on Friday 5th July. She galloped with Hay Bale on Friday (video above) and they worked to the line strongly in 11.83, 11.10.

We are looking forward to Airfree returning to the races and aim to see her back in Sydney racing well this prep.

Airfree

Airfree had another solid jumpout this morning at Moruya. She jumped with the field but was a little slow to muster in the first few strides. She travelled at the back of the field and worked home well in the straight. The jumpout was run in the very good time of 45.84 seconds over 800m and 33.74 seconds for the last 600m.

Airfree is aiming to resume racing this prep at Nowra on the 5th of July.

The video of this morning’s jumpout is above and the helmet camera video is below.

Airfree

Airfree had a good solid jumpout this morning (video above and helmet camera video below). She worked to the line strong and finished off great.

We have a few options for her first race start this prep:

  • Highway Handicap 1200m at Randwick on 22nd of June
  • BM64 1000m at Kembla Grange on 27th June

We will see how she pulls up from today’s gallop and decide later this week where will be best to kick off her prep.

Airfree

Airfree started pace work on the grass this week and is coming along well. She is aiming to have a jumpout on the 20th of June.
