Resort is nearly half way through his spell and he is loving his holiday in the paddock. He has befriended the cows in the paddock next door and spends all day eating grass near them. He storms around at feed time and still thinks he is the best, even in the paddock.
Resort has come through his run at Wagga very well and is working great in the lead up to the Wagga Gold Cup on Friday. There were a lot of nominations so we have put him in a BM70 2100m at Warwick Farm on Wednesday as a back up plan on the off chance he doesn’t make the field on Friday. We have every expectation he will take his place in the Wagga Cup field and will know for sure on Tuesday morning.
Resort and Pauper galloped together on Tuesday morning (click above for video).
They worked from the 1000m mark in the following sectionals:
15.15, 14.53, 14.16, 11.37, 11.54
Resort is back at the stables after a quick 10 day freshen up in the paddock. He did some 3/4 pace on Saturday (click above for video) and he was very strong.
He is aiming to race at Wagga on the 14th of April over 1800m.

Resort has recovered from his Rosehill win brilliantly. He did some 3/4 pace this morning and should be ready to race again at Kembla Grange on the 15th. He never missed a grain of feed and he was very happy to get back to the river this week.
Resort has been entered to race at Rosehill on Wednesday following a very good track gallop on Saturday (video above).
The track at Wagga on Friday is likely to be very firm so we decided to go to Rosehill instead. We were initially concerned about the 2400m but we think if he has an easier first 400m of the race than he did at Randwick, he should be able to run out the distance.
Resort had a solid gallop this morning on the course proper, working home the last 400m in 22.35 seconds.
He has been nominated to race at Royal Randwick on Saturday over 2400m.
Resort is entered to race in the Sapphire Coast Cup on Sunday at Bega.
He had a solid gallop with Ollie the Third on Tuesday morning (video above) and they worked home in the following sectionals:
17.22, 16.23, 15.06, 11.59, 11.17
Resort went to the river for a recovery session on Wednesday (video below) and he will have a sprint up on Friday.
Resort has come through his race on Monday very well. It has been a hot week here in Moruya and the horses have been enjoying a roll when they come in from their work sweating and itchy (video above).
Resort had an easy week to recover from his race, doing slow cantering and taking a trip to the river.
Resort is aiming to race again at Sapphire Coast on the 3rd of February.
Resort had a good gallop with Airfree on Tuesday morning (video above). He worked into the bit the whole way and was strong to the line. They worked home in:
Resort is entered to race at Moruya on Monday and will appreciate the step up in distance.
He will sprint up on Friday morning for his final hit out.
Resort has pulled up great after his 3rd place run on Monday. He can be seen storming home down the outside in the Bradley Photographers image above.
We will aim to race him again at Moruya on Monday the 21st of January in the second heat of the Stayers’ Series. We will also nominate for the Narooma Cup on the same day in case it turns out to be a better option.
Resort worked very well today in his last sprint up before Moruya races (video above). He is dropping back in distance so we have been freshening him up and sharpening up his work. He galloped with Airfree and they ran up the last two furlongs in:
He has started trail riding on the bush track once a week and just like most of our horses, he has quickly become obsessed with it and wants to do it every day now instead of trackwork. He led the way on a trail ride with Sarzana on Wednesday (video below).
Resort galloped with Airfree on Saturday morning (video above). They worked over 1000m, running the following sectionals:
15.75, 14.15, 13.52, 12.09, 11.28
He is on track to race at Moruya on the 7th as planned.
Resort has pulled up from his race at Kembla Grange exceptionally well. He was hardly blowing after the race and he has been very fresh at trackwork this week.
He went to the river this morning (video above), which is quickly becoming his favourite thing to do.
We are gong to stick with our original plan by freshening him up and sending him to Moruya over 1650m on Moruya Cup Day 7th January.
Resort galloped this morning with a mate, working from the 1000m mark (click above to view video). His furlong sectionals were:
15.92, 15.95, 13.65, 11.20, 11.41
He visited the river for the first time on Friday and he was excellent.
We have been happy with his work since he arrived at our stable and he is nominated to race on Saturday at Kembla Grange (fields will be published on Thursday). We have booked Robbie Brewer to ride him. We have a very good strike rate with Robbie and he is a heavier jockey so Resort won’t be carrying a lot of dead weight.
Our new boy, Resort, had his first gallop at Moruya on Thursday morning. He worked on his own from the 1000m mark on the B grass and his furlong sectionals were:
16.08, 14.84, 15.50, 11.81, 11.64
He travelled very nicely and was not put under any pressure.
His new ownership has now been finalised and lodged for transfer. He will be nominated for Kembla Grange races on Saturday 15th of December (nominations will be released on Monday).
Resort had his first morning on the grass track at Moruya on Tuesday, doing 3/4 pace over 1000m. He travelled beautifully and will have a gallop on Thursday morning.
Our new horse, Resort, had his first canter at Moruya on Saturday morning.
He is a beautiful, strong gelding who is in excellent condition and should have no troubles getting to the races in a couple of weeks.
